Stupid Water

Back in Oct, the people that live directly above us overflowed their toilet and the water came down through the ceiling in our bathroom and dripped out of the heating duct. It was a sizable puddle but cleaned up fairly easily.

Well, Wednesday night they did it again, but on a much grander scale. I tweeted about this while it was happening, but for the full story, read on…

Lazy

I really horribly terribly suck at personal time management. “The weekend’s almost over and I’m just starting laundry at 3pm on Sunday? Wtf?”

Yesterday, we went to the ER for ‘breakfast’ at 10am. Got back home around noon, napped until 4, had Chinese food for dinner at 6, and did nothing else until going to bed again at around 10pm. Total. Suck.

Today, got up at 6, breakfast at NB at 8, went to Barton’s work for about an hour, home at 10, napped until noon, shopped at BB&B around 1:30. Then came home and back out to Sonic for ‘lunch’ at 2:30. Loaded some clothes in the washer around 3, and they just got put in the dryer at 4.

Now, what should I do? Sewing? Gotta clean the tables/desk off first. Reorganizing/repacking? Boring. Shopping for actual groceries? AHAHAHAHA, you’re kidding, right?

Getting distracted by the Intarwebz again might be doable. I’m so full of just … meh.

Gallery Issue

Gallery was really the first php app/CMS I ever used, way back with the 1.x version. It was an awesome way to organize all those pictures I had laying around that I wanted to put up on the site. Lately though, I’m finding it to be clunky and overly complicated. Every time I want to change my theme in WordPress I have to fiddle with it in order to get the gallery to display right. I really don’t want to dump all of my pictures into WordPress itself however, since there’s over 1000 of them, and re-categorizing them would just drive me nuts and take way too long. So, I guess I’m stuck using Gallery for now. Maybe the 3.0 version (when its released) will allow for better WordPress integration.

Update Nov 19: Well, I tried the beta version of Gallery3 on another site a few weeks ago and absolutely hated it. Its not all that different from Gallery2. Just too much app for what I need it for. Soo.. today I grabbed the NexGen Gallery plugin for WordPress and so far I am liking it. There are a few things I’m confused by (eg, “gallery” vs “album”) but I think once I work with it some more it’ll be okay. It takes care of my two biggest issues: a) integrating with my WordPress blog and the theme I chose, and b) it gives me an easy way to upload/add/organize the pictures. I can keep the files organized on the server in the same hierarchy and upload new pictures to the folder they go with, and then log into WordPress and add them to the site with just a few clicks. I can even insert single pics into posts pretty easily. MVC_597S
