Just installed the new WordPress app on my Blackberry. This should prove to be fun.
Already found at least 1 problem, not all of my ‘Pages’ show up in the page list. Seems like it picked 5 random ones out of the 16 I have (total, I have 6 published, 6 drafts, and 4 private).
So, this weekend I’ve been brainstorming things we can do to improve our apartment, so its less cluttered looking, if not also more organized. I took some pictures of the living room and patio as ‘before’ pics to compare what it looks like now and later when the things I want to do actually get done. Pictures here.
Also, I made a pot roast in the crockpot. Potatoes, carrots, onions, celery, a big ole slab of beef (top round roast, probably should have gotten a bottom round roast) spices and a little too much water. Seems to have turned out good though.
Remember when all websites were just text and hyperlinks and maybe a few images? Now everybody has to have some crazy php-based content management system application (yeah, yeah, pot-kettle-black, I know). Working in the webhosting industry and specifically, in Security, has really made me long for those simpler times again. Sure, editing html is tedious and time-consuming, but its pretty rock-solid safe once its web-accessible. Nobody can exploit flaws in your plain html code to send spam, upload phishing sites, or kill other webservers.
Since I now live in Grand Rapids, and my job is in Lansing, I get to commute 2 hours (roundtrip) every day on the expressway route from hell. I touch 3 major expressways on my way:
I usually need to leave my apartment by 2:30pm to get to work just before 4. Sometimes I’ve left later, and still gotten to work on time. Today was one of those days.
It seems there is no discernible traffic pattern. It doesn’t seem to matter which time of day I pick to leave, new day, new assholes. People are either pushy, or they’re a pussy. And sometimes the pushy ones turn into pussies, and vice-versa.
On my way home, there’s usually a lot less traffic, but about the same amount of dumb. One night I had someone come up behind me real fast, then pace me for about 2 miles at 1 car length off my bumper. Then they decided to shift into the passing lane, and hover in my blind spot for about half a mile before they finally passed me. Once they passed, they immediately got back over in front of me, making me hit my brakes and break out of cruise control just to get some space between us. Then they continued to drive almost directly in front of me for no reason, even though I’d slowed down by about 5mph.
Another thing that irks me is that it seems like people refuse to even use their cruise control. Or, when they do, its set ridiculously fast, or ridiculously slow. Why not just pick the speed limit and set it to that?
Also, police presence on the freeway seems to be inconsistent at best. One night I counted no less than 5 traffic stops, and most nights its none at all. There is also a truck weigh-station on I-96 between Portland and Ionia that I have only seen open and in-use one time since I started commuting 5 weeks ago.
I managed to bring in the bubble wrap roll from my car today and that was it. Apparently its supposed to rain all weekend.
In other news, the site was down this morning. That was because, like a dumbass, I didn’t bother to check my GoDaddy account to see if the CC they were going to bill for auto-renew was a good one. Of course, it wasn’t. I needed to update my address too, and I went ahead and renewed the 4 other domains I have that were going to expire soon. So, a $10 renewal got turned into a $94 renewal. Argh.
